I have always had a healthy interest in the other side of things, I remember as a small child looking for fairy circles with my Gran, giving the trolls a gift so we could safely cross their bridges and casting wishes into the water. My interest deepened as I grew older and I started to work in a more focused way with Tarot & intuition as a teenager. I managed to give myself a few frights along the way and started to question things about energy and the Earth in a deeper way so decided to study Physics at University.

I had been working as a Medical physicist for a year when I came across Reiki and that really shifted my focus. I wanted to find a way to combine the Science of life with the magic of life - why should the two be separate? They are two sides of the same coin in my opinion. I spent a year studying the effect of energy healing on the nervous system and published my finding in scientific journals as well as new age magazines. I found difficulty progressing with this aim in the Scientific Arena so left my post within the NHS to establish a Holistic Retreat (Tir na nOg) with my close friend Oona McFarlane, for three years we worked our bums off to create our dream of a space where we people could pursue the highest quality teaching, and where we could provide the opportunity for healing and growth for as many people as possible in a supportive and empowering space, in 2007 I left to concentrate on pastures new as well as Motherhood but Oona is doing an admirable job keeping that dream alive.

I first came across Family Constellation at a workshop ran by Jill Purce in 2000. I then discovered Diana Grell in Scotland and undertook brief training with Alun Reynolds in Edinburgh and went on to train with Bert Hellinger in Austria.

I do not have a psychotherapy background and I did not set out to work with family constellation and ancestral patterns; it is something that has evolved through the various different aspects of my work and it has become something I am incredibly passionate about.

My first book 'The Science of Family' was published in 2009 and my second book is due for publication in 2011.

I still have that aim to bridge the gap between Science and the new age and keep that in mind in everything I do.

Life is just not living without a little magic...
